The College of Life Science, NTU was established in 2003, in response to the intensive and exciting developments in life science in recent years. The college consists of two undergraduate departments, five graduate institutes and one degree program. The Department of Life Science lays emphasis on basic biological sciences; whereas the Department of Biochemical Science and Technology emphasizes on biochemistry and its applications. Together they offer a complementary yet rich multidisciplinary undergraduate program in biology to the students of NTU. The undergraduate departments offer B.S. degree.

The Department of Life Science has near 24 full time faculty members and is still growing, and is supported by faculty from Institute of Plant Biology, Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Institute of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Institute of Fisheries Science. The Department of Biochemical Science and Technology has around 20 full time faculty members and offers both M.S. and Ph.D. programs.

The undergraduate departments, graduate institutes in the College of Life Science are a cohesive entity. The faculty on both sides supports each other in teaching and research. The unique scholarly partnership offers the students, both graduate and undergraduate, unique research atmosphere and learning environment.
